A Minecraft Movie: Special Screening in Köln

When a game called Minecraft was released over fifteen years ago in May 2009, nobody could have imagined the worldwide success this pixelated game centred around the hero Steve would have.

Fast forward to the year 2025 and around 240,000,000 copies sold later, the game has now made the leap from the screen to the big screen - ‘A Minecraft Movie’.

A Minecraft Movie

You read that right - it's not THE Minecraft film, but ONE Minecraft film.

Why?

Everyone plays Minecraft in their own unique way and so the film version also claims to be just one possible version of the many different adventures. This principle also makes the film very enjoyable for Minecraft veterans, because who knows if another film won't tell exactly the adventure you wanted to see in advance.

The cast around Jack Black as Steve works brilliantly and fits perfectly into the angular world of Minecraft.

And if we may make a wish at this point:

We need a Garrett ‘The Garbage Man’ Garrison action figure!

Warner Bros has shown a really lucky hand with the casting of Jason Momoa as Garrett and the character should completely pick up children of the 80s in particular.

We love it!

Before we went to the cinema, however, we were able to compete against other visitors at the crafting station, stroke a real llama from the overworld, play Minecraft and eat delicious TNT cakes.

We were particularly mesmerised by the crafting station. Inspired by Steve's secret camp from the film, you had to recreate various recipes from the world of Minecraft at workbenches.

In the best case scenario, you knew the required recipes off the top of your head, found the required materials quickly and then placed everything on the right spaces on the workbench faster than your opponent.

You were then rewarded with merchandise from the large treasure chest. It was the perfect way to get in the mood for the film!

Merchandise inspired by the movie

We won't spoil anything - we promised at the beginning and we won't break that promise.

Nevertheless, we would like to take this opportunity to show you a few collectibles that will probably be in high demand over the next few weeks.

We'll start with Dennis the wolf, who actually has a few very important scenes and is just huggable - especially on the cheeks ;)

You can find him as an action figure at https://www.heo.com/de/de/product/MATTJFR59 and if you prefer something fluffier, you can also find a plush version in the shop.

Of course, Steve should not be missing at this point and Mattel also has a 10cm figure in its portfolio to match Dennis.

Jack Black is perfectly scaled down, but see for yourself at https://www.heo.com/de/de/product/MATTJFR57 - also available as a 30cm version and, of course, as a plush figure.

A very important utensil for adventurers and hard-working miners is undoubtedly the torch, which you can find in film look at https://www.heo.com/de/de/product/NOB3727

And if you are looking for loot in the underground tunnels with a torch, you should ideally have a diamond pickaxe at the ready. As luck would have it, we can help out here https://www.heo.com/de/de/product/DSG65685

Dig into something new!

You can find the complete Minecraft range at:

Take the opportunity now and stock up your pantry, because in the next few weeks many small and big adventurers will increasingly ask for equipment from the overworld ;)
